Misson of Jemez Jr MRC

●To provide opportunities for students to learn about medical professions and emergency preparedness and response; to participate in public health outreach; to train students as First Responders, Psychological First Aid Responders, Wildland Fire Fighters; and to assist the New Mexico Department of Health and the Albuquerque area MRC in emergency response activities and public health outreach. 


●To empower and increase self-esteem and resiliency of WHCS students through educational activities in Psychology 101 and medical professional activities through UNMH.

●To reduce risky behavior associated with alcohol and drug abuse through collaborative programs with the Jemez Behavioral Clinic, and participation with Acudetox.
●To reduce the risk of diabetes through nutrition education, physical activity and participation in a Diabetes Lab. Students will share learned outcomes and behavior in their community by presenting health education classes to local elementary schools and providing an annual health fair.
●To train WHCS students in Healthcare Provider CPR and Psychological First Aid.
●To train interested WHCS students as First Responders and Wildland Fire Fighters.
●To educate students and form a local Jr MRC team for disaster preparedness for their community, and start a pipeline program to help students into healthcare and emergency preparedness and response.
