Athletics
Program Overview
We have a strong, competitive, and exciting athletics program. Currently, we offer varsity women’s volleyball in the fall. Varsity men’s basketball is offered in the winter. Archery for both men and women is offered in the spring and E-Sports. Athletes will earn one physical education credit (required for graduation) after completing 3 seasons of a varsity sport. WHCS is a member of the New Mexico Athletic Association (NMAA) and follows their guidelines for eligibility, which are detailed in the WHCS Cougar Handbook
We follow the NMAA mandate “Compete with Class”. This mandate was developed through a collaboration process involving athletic directors, coaches, and school administrators as well as input from student and adult communities. WHCS follows the NMAA mandate with the intent to promote and establish a strong culture of sportsmanship based on the core values of respect, integrity, and responsibility among our athletes.
